Strategies to crack CSAT

  • Round 1:Identify and answer easy questions first. Select questions for Round 2 & Round 3.
  • Round 2: Attempt the ones when you have understood the logic / concept on which the
  • Round 3: You must solve a question with 100% accuracy approximately within 3 minutes. Overshooting or spending more than 3 minutes is another major reason for failure in CSAT.

Aim to solve at least 60 questions.

CSAT Exam Pattern

CSAT or Civil Services Aptitude Test was introduced in 2011. It is the second paper in the UPSC Prelims. Officially, it is known as General Studies Paper-II.

The CSAT exam pattern for UPSC 2021

  • Number of questions: 80 Objective-Type (MCQ) questions
  • Maximum Marks: 200
  • Duration: 2 hours
  • Negative Marking: Applicable (1/3rd of the maximum marks for the question)
  • Language of CSAT exam paper: English/Hindi
  • CSAT qualifying marks: 66 marks (33% qualifying criteria)
